First Italian Dinner

After unpacking and a well-deserved cat nap our group met up for our first Italian meal. We learned VERY quickly that the area we are staying in is NOT touristy and that these locals mean BUSINESS when it comes to Italian cooking..whew! We went to this small family restaurant which was able to accomodate us (of course after we learned that they spoke NO English- oops!) and they ended up loving us :) I ordered the Pasta Carbonnera (delicious!) and also shared some of Marys (I can't remember the name but it was some sort of blush sauce over Penne with meat and it was amazing as well). We of course had wine and get this - only $5 for a liter! House wine was very delicious and cheap. I even liked the red for once!

After that delicious meal the group went to explore the local area and I treated myself to some gelato! I asked the Italian man behind the counter "What do you recommend?" in Italian and he was so impressed that he gave me an extra huge scoop of the best gelato I've had ever!

Now that I'm nice and full (yes, I took the stairs back to my room on the 4th floor) I'm heading straight to bed. No nightlife for me tonight - I'm jetlagged and exhausted.
