Last Finds in Florence

There were three quirky things I found in Florence that were particularly interesting...

1. The Medici symbol can be spotted randomly all around town - the oval crest with 6 balls inside. This became some form of an "I-spy" game for us around town.

2. There are some really intricate doorknobs all around the city. They all have Renaissance inspiration and I never found two that were the same.

3. The "Padlocks of Love" are located right along the river in Florence. For those (like me) that had never heard of this tradition: the idea is to have two lovers write their names on a padlock along with the date and then lock it onto this long chain to remain there for eternity. The key is thrown into the river to symbolize locking up your love and throwing away the key forever.
