Local Adventures

Today was sort of a break for us after running around so much every other day. Rachel and I went looking for a "go phone" we could use but the prices were ridiculous! We decided not to get one. Some of the primary wireless devices include TIM, Vodophone, and Wind. Such strange names, however I'm sure if the Italians came to America they would say the same about our AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. SPOILER ALERTT:  I feel like I should also add that Vodophone (the equivalent of AT&T in the United States) already has the iPhone 4 (however the do use sim cards). After failing at phone shopping we also failed at finding the grocery store (Acme would be REALLY nice to have right now). At least we got to see some pretty sites.

We had our group meal last night and I decided to try the Chicken Scaloppini...yum!!! I also had a salad with balsamic and oil and tiramisu for dessert. Amazingly delicious! Good thing everyone walks so much here or they'd all be 1,000 pounds from all the delicious food options.

At night we did a half hour walk to the square. The walk over was long, but so worth seeing all of Rome's best sites on the way. I think I am getting better at navigating also. The Piazza Navona was so interesting to experience at night. Fountains and beautiful sculptures were everywhere and the piazza turned out to feature several American bars... made me want some french fries really bad haha! I had a Peroni and tried some interesting mixed drinks - let's just say that Italians are overly creative and it's not necessarily a good thing...blek! After leaving the square, a few of us decided to walk back from the bar - lets just say that we didn't do a very good job navigating but certainly learned a lot about how NOT to get around Rome.

We ended up in standing in front of St. Peters Basilica and wow... It's so beautiful and complex. I can't imagine the efforts they put into constructing it.
